Hello from sensational Savannah, Georgia USA!

Come and join us in this fabulous southern city tucked away in a secluded little corner of The great state of Georgia! We are very close to one of the nicest stretches of islands and beaches on the east coast.... By the way, we are THE prettiest small city anywhere in the USA. Basically, it is our "floor Plan" - our town plan is designed in such a way that everywhere you go will open up vista after vista of gorgeous tree scapes, parks, historic architecture and a people scape that will knock you out!

Rooftops

I have always thought that one of urban Savannah’s greatest untapped assets are those previously unused and often times neglected spaces on the roofs of both the residential and commercial buildings here. When I launched my gardening business in downtown Savannah in January of 1999,....

Sometimes Mandates can be a Good Thing!

Posted by Ron Melander On 2:23 PM
Over the past decade and a half, I have watched as downtown Savannah very, very slowly renovated sidewalks in what seemed like selective areas to accommodate wheelchair ramps, mostly along Bull Street in coordination with the late Mills B Lane’s streetscape enhancements between City Hall and Forsyth Park. But for some reason, they never seemed to get around to Abercorn Street and other areas with very deep curbs that are designed to take the water from our occasional tropical-like downpours. This really makes it hard for folks who end up using the streets instead. But a few months ago, I noticed an amazing flurry of activity in block after block along all the major corridors of the Landmark District and I wondered, what goes on? So I stopped to ask one of the dozens of contractors and he answered in two words; State Mandate. Yeah! Thank You Georgia State Government. This was long overdue! I could not find any reference to this mandate on line but I did find this article from the local paper. It seems to take a different spin. Anyone know anything more?

Until Next Week,

Ron Melander
